National Barramundi Day 2024!
So What Is National Barramundi Day?
National Barramundi Day is all about celebrating Australia’s most iconic fish! It's a day to support our local Aussie farms, enjoy delicious barra dishes, and choose sustainable, homegrown seafood. Next time you're at the market or dining out, make sure you ask for Aussie barra!
A Barra-mazing Day
It all kicked off with Khanh Ong on 3AW Melbourne Breakfast before heading to Channel 7’s The Morning Show, where he demonstrated to viewers how to make his mouthwatering Barramundi Katsu Sando (full recipe on our website if you missed it!). But the fun didn’t stop there, Khanh wrapped up the day with a barra burger masterclass at Watsons Bay Hotel, teaching fans how to make the ultimate Aussie barra burger.
Restaurants Across Australia Joined In
While Khanh Ong was shaking things up in Sydney, restaurants across Australia jumped on board to celebrate National Barramundi Day. In Victoria, top spots like Grossi Florentino, Pier Port Melbourne, and Teddy Picker all featured special barramundi dishes. Meanwhile, in NSW, iconic places like Mr. Wong and Scratchleys in Newcastle got in on the action too, serving crispy, fresh Aussie barra.
It was incredible to see how regional restaurants also joined in support of Aussie barra, from Rosmarino on the Gold Coast to Reef Seafood + Sushi in Queensland and many more across the country!
Why Supporting Aussie Farms Matters
Behind every delicious barramundi dish is the hard work of Australian barramundi farms. National Barramundi Day highlights how important it is to support these farms, which are committed to sustainable practices while delivering the freshest fish to our plates. Throughout the day, barramundi farms across the country hosted their own cook-ups, creating delicious barra dishes in celebration of National Barramundi Day.
By choosing Aussie barra, you’re not just enjoying top-quality fish—you’re also supporting local farmers and helping us to continue producing 100% Aussie-grown barramundi.
