National Barramundi Day 2021
National Barramundi Day 2021
Can you believe National Barramundi Day is turning 3 this year?! We certainly can’t (it’s like watching your baby grow up right before your eyes, isn’t it) but we know for a fact that we are EXCITED.
While we’re firm believers that barramundi should be celebrated all day every day, National Barramundi Day is the day of the year we get to make the biggest splash about it. You’re welcome!
Why celebrate National Barramundi Day?
We celebrate National Barramundi Day to help raise awareness of homegrown barramundi and support our Aussie barra famers, who work hard to provide Aussies with tasty, high-quality and sustainably farmed barramundi. Did you know that despite its Indigenous name, over 60% of barramundi is imported from overseas with almost half of Australians unsure of its origin? That’s why we encourage you to #askforaussiebarra when doing your groceries, prepping your picnic platters and dining out!
Also – it is a wonderful opportunity for you to get creative in the kitchen and create a dish using sustainable Aussie barra. Whether you are new to cooking or enjoy whipping up some so-fish-ticated meals - be sure to upload your creation on social media on 22nd October, tag us @australianbarramundi and use the hashtag #askforaussiebarra.
Restaurant partners
We are so proud to have teamed up with over 100 amazing restaurants across the nation to support the cause behind National Barramundi Day. These restaurants will all be serving specialty dishes on the day (some for the entire weekend too!) using farm fresh barra delivered from our sustainable farms. Restaurants taking part include Catalina, Firedoor, Maha, Agnes and MORE! Take a look here for the full list – where will you be visiting first?
